The gaming industry never ceases to astound, and Gunfire Games is no exception with their recent announcement of The Awakened King, the first downloadable content (DLC) for their hit game, Remnant II. Slated for release on November 14, the DLC comes with a price tag of $9.99, but fans who have already purchased the DLC bundle—priced at $24.99 and inclusive of two future DLC releases in 2024—will have access to The Awakened King at no additional cost. For those who opted for the Remnant II Ultimate Edition, the good news is that the DLC bundle has already been included in your purchase!
The Awakened King will whisk Remnant II players away on a fresh journey in an entirely new setting, complete with additional dungeons, a novel archetype, and a storyline that has yet to be revealed. The narrative will transport players to the mystical world of Losomn, where they will dive into a new plotline involving the One True King, a once noble leader now corrupted by the Root, hellbent on revenge against his adversaries. Players will also get to explore new dungeons and areas within Losomn, promising an immersive, exciting gaming experience.
An exciting addition to Remnant II is the introduction of a new archetype, the Ritualist. The Ritualist is designed to inflict status effects to torment enemies, emerging as a master of torment and suffering. While further specifics on this new archetype will be disclosed closer to the release of the DLC, the anticipation is sure to keep players on their toes. Moreover, The Awakened King introduces an array of items and potent weapons specifically tailored to enhance gameplay. Players can expect to gear up their survivor with a variety of new weapons, modifications, and items such as amulets and rings to help navigate and survive the perilous landscape of Losomn.
The Awakened King doesn't stop there. Players are in for a thrilling encounter with new bosses, characters, and fearsome creatures that have emerged from the depths of the ocean, now roaming the streets and presenting new challenges. These enigmatic threats and survivors of unknown origin will undoubtedly add an extra layer of excitement, keeping players engaged and on the edge of their seats.
While the initial release of Remnant II received mixed reviews, with our own Nathan Birch rating the game a 6.5 out of 10, its sales tell a different story. In spite of stiff competition and a lukewarm reception from critics, Remnant II managed to sell over a million units in less than a week from its launch. This reflects a significant user base eagerly awaiting the release of The Awakened King and future DLCs. Despite its shortcomings, Remnant II's fantastic world and the promise of fresh, exciting challenges with the introduction of The Awakened King DLC could be the magnet that draws players back into its dark multiverse.
